Ep 22 - Falling out of the brothers

This is such a sad episode, because we watched Jun Ha transform. From a poor boy who's been manipulated since young for no fault beyond being born the son of an enemy, who's so insecure, who loves his non-blood related brother to death, he became the devil. Who wants to hate and be hated by that brother, just because they're the son of each other's enemy.

I secretly hope that this is all Jun Ha's plot to win the enemy's trust and gain control of Woo Kyung before returning it to Dong Joo. I hope. I really hope, because it hurts to see him fall into that abssy of hatred.

The best scene in this episode was the final one, with the showdown between Jun Ha and Dong Joo. I swear I'll not forgive Jun Ha if he ever let it out, maliciously, that Dong Joo is in fact deaf. And before he does that, I'll hang on to the hope that he's just acting. Because if he does, he'll be ruining Dong Joo directly and irreversibly (in terms of his pride and self-confidence).

This scene is so well-written!

Dong Joo chases after Jun Ha as he leaves with the enemy.

DJ: Hyung!
DJ: I said that I don't want to fight against you. Let's not go against each other. I'm also struggling to endure all these.

But Jun Ha would not accept his offer of a truce.

JH: Are you trying to endure it or is it because you have no confidence of winning against me?

Getting no response from Dong Joo, Jun Ha spins around and nearly killed his perfect self. Rather than all the angsty, evil looks he gave in this episode, this expression was the most painful to watch.

JH: Why aren't you answering my question? Did you not hear what I said?

Dong Joo could only stare at his hyung, more puzzled as to the way he's acting than what he had just asked.

JH: Shall I repeat myself?

JH: Shall I repeat myself?
DJ: Jang Jun Ha. You shouldn't have said those words. Those words... I didn't know how distressful they are.
JH: That's right. I'll let you know from now on.
DJ: Yes, do what you want to do.

Dong Joo cries in what might be the saddest scene in the whole of Kdrama history, beating even the horrible cancer-stricken-lover-cliche.

DJ: Hyung... Jun Ha hyung, I'm actually cry because of you. Today will be the last time (I cry because of you).

I still won't say that Kim Jae Won/Dong Joo is an outstanding actor (not when Nam Goong Min/Jun Ha is going so very strong and convincing in his role), but he got me in that final scene. It's so heartwrenching to see the pair turn against each other!!

On a side note, I'm getting sick of the Dong Joo x Woo Ri relationship. At first, I was sucked in by the pureness, the bright nature of their relationship. But when the story has developed into such a melodramatic situation, their cute scenes scattered here and there during the episode seemed to fit poorly into the overarching plot. And I cannot stand Woo Ri going "Dong Joo, Dong Joo". Her voice is getting annoying. Especially when all she's concerned about is Dong Joo. She didn't ask after Jun Ha when he contacts her after being released from police custody. All she did was go on and on about how Dong Joo was worried about him, and how he's causing Dong Joo and her pain. It's hard to believe that she really loved her Ma Ru oppa. Oh well, maybe we can pin it down to her love for Dong Joo, but I'm so distressed about Jun Ha, I cannot stand seeing her inflict more pain on him!!

Jun Ha! Please prove that even though you're 'born to someone who isn't human', you're still human. Don't disappoint me!

It's weird - everyone seems to love JH and his actor but I dislike JH and am not interested in his actor either. I kinda wish he's move to the US and live happily far far away. Out of the main characters, he's least interesting to me, which makes me feel like a fandom freak (but then I adore Woori, so clearly am fandom-switched :D)

I usually like conflicted bad guys in family revenge dramas (I was obsessed with Ma Jun in Baker King) but it just doesn't click for me here.
