Excerpts from the interview
ー The encore for Arafes 2020 Part 2 where you sang Kanpai song was Arashi-like and was fantastic (Laughs). How will you close the year end concert?
M: For sure...for this New Year's Ever concert, we can't end with that right? (Laughs) I don't think we can end with "Kanpai! (T/N: Cheers)" "See you again!"
ー No...I think that will once again be Arashi-like (Laughs)
O: Well...(Laughs) But...I can't imagine it at all at this point. We can't change the fact that there won't be any audience; that has been finalised. Given that, how do we reach everyone? That's all I can think about. Even for the actual day. What will they think about it? It's a little scary...because I don't know what their reaction is (since I cannot see it directly).
S: That's true.
ー That's right. You would want to see their reactions right?
M: No but...it might be better that we can't see it. What if they start crying in front of us...
O: Well...
S: And then we go "Kanpai!" "Bye bye!" or something...
M: It's kind of difficult. In my memories, when it comes to the image of a farewell...it's the putting down of the mic during the retirement stage, or like when Hikari Genji (Super 5) graduated, the taking off of their rollerskates and putting then them down.
A: Ah...that's right.
O: I see.
S: (Noticing something) Eh...The see-through costumes...shall we put them down?
M: Eh...fold them up? (Laughs)
A: Hahaha! Fold them up and leave them on stage?
S: In the end it got coloured (due to the ageing of that vinyl material) so it'll be like "Ah...it got coloured. It's become translucent. It used to be see-through back then..."
N: "It's amazing, 20 years (T/N: and what it can do)"
(AMNOS burst into laughter)
M: Like some kind of legend... (sits formally in the seiza manner and does the gesture of folding the costume tightly)
A: Seiza? To sit formally in the seiza manner and say, "Thank you!"
S (while laughing): That would be awesome! Awesome but...even though that will probably become legendary, I don't whether that's good or bad (Laughs)!
(AMNOS burst into laughter)
M: And this will remain in the archives (for decades) (Laughs). Putting down mics, putting down rollerskates...folding costumes.
A: That's for costume stylists!
(AMNOS burst into laughter)
S: That would be awesome (Laughs).
O: It'll be a legend (Laughs).
M: Well, as everyone said, it's true that "even we ourselves cannot imagine it". Isn't that beyond imagination?
ー I'm looking forward to seeing everyone looking "beyond imagination"! Since this round-table chat for the pamphlet is the last one before hiatus, can we have the customary "last words to close off the round-table chat" from Ohno-san, which we haven't heard for a long time?
A: That's right, please close it off.
O: Eh...close it? (with a blank, surprised look)
S: You know, like how you always did the closing?
N: The closing that you always do!
M: You know, (the coming concert) it's a live broadcast right? Maybe there will be various problems arising.
O: (Recalling) Ah~ok! Well...for sure, don't fight! Ok? This is the last one before hiatus. Even if we fight, it won't be of any use. Also, take care of your health in the remaining two month.
AMNS: Ok!
O: Complete this concert in perfection. And then...I guess, don't catch a cold!
(AMNOS burst into laughter)
M: It's ok if in January right?
O: It's ok in January!
S: It's ok to catch a cold (T/N: then) right?
O: It's not good to catch a cold but...it's ok (T/N: if you are going to catch one)
(AMNOS burst into laughter)
N: For now, it's up to the concert on New Year's Eve!
A: Yes, until then! Let's all work hard together!!
O: Yes! (with force) Let's all work hard together!!
