Finally, the end of a terrible week...

Thanks to those who left me a comment this afternoon...I guess it's like Arashi says, don't compare with other people...

A really catchy song by SS501. E-subs available (but I don't guarantee the accuracy...)

I like how they played with their suits. Who said only ladies can wear low back dresses?!

[EDIT] I forgot to pimp (one of my) favourite song by this group. FIND, with main focus on their lead singer Young Saeng. His voice is really strong, and I wonder whose voice I like better - Ohno's or his. And this is his first song after resuming group activities previously halted due to a throat inflammation. I love this song but have never sang it in ktv before because the high pitch notes are impossible to sing (and yet Young Saeng did it so well!!)

So, Young Saeng or Ohno? I'll let you decide!! Young Saeng's the one singing in most parts  (you first see him singing at around 0:52), especially the chorus.

Btw, just in case you see something odd at 2:08, don't worry, it's just member-love, Arashi style. =)

I've noticed this a while ago...that when it comes to groups, I like 5-membered ones.

Arashi
SS501
Mayday

=)

[EDIT 2]

For Tsuriken's sake:

Below are some videos from radio shows. The concept is that someone(s) sing another artiste's song, and the ones not singing will add background effect/background dialogues that fits the song lyrics. So, it's the RAW, PLAIN ORIGINAL voice! =)

First up is a solo by Young Saeng. Great voice! Remember, this is unedited!

Then we have him in another solo song. His group member was making him laugh HAHA.

The same song, but by most of SS501. Leader Kim Hyun Joong (of BOF fame) makes really stupid comments (very dramatic HAHA) behind.

Ok, PV of another of my fav songs from SS501. Just watch it for the pure fun. It's a very very cute song (and I have the song as my ringtone!) paired up with a really cute PV and dance steps!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS Tsuriken! Because I was youtubing (let's work to make this an official verb, like Google did!) some SS501 old videos, I found the following!!!!!!!!!! A second, funny, raw version of the PV above! It's another layer of cuteness!

Ok I promise this will be the last. SS501's You're My Heaven, performed live in their concert. After Arashi's costumes, SS501's looked comparably plain...but normal enough to be worn on the streets though.

7 Oct 2010 was the 100th day of PYH's passing, and while I couldn't participate in the 100th day memorial event organised by Summer Face Japan, his official fanclub in Japan (容夏 is his Korean name in hanja, and it literally means "Face Summer"), I wanted to post this up. Work got the better of me, so I'm a bit late. (In fact, I started building up the post since 24 Sep!)

But here you go, (almost) 100 minutes of PYH footage - 99min 54sec to be exact, I didn't made it that way, I just posted up all the videos I wanted to share, counted, and got pleasantly surprised that the timing came so close to the 100 min target I set.

Mainly focused on his 09-10 LOVE concert tour, meaning his newer songs.

I've posted some of his older videos before here. Check if interested!

His fanclub is still taking in members. Somehow, for now, more than an Arashi fc membership, I want to join PYH's.

I'm left with 4 days to cross post about 30 pages of vox posts. T.T And the thing is, I used to share a lot of scans. I don't have them on HD (or rather, I don't remember which HD I saved them in). Should I try very hard to post them over to continue sharing, or should I just give up the images, which are taking up a lot of time to save and reup?

It's actually quite fun cross-posting, if I don't consider the crazy deadline. I mean, I get to look back at the time when I first entered fandom, first got my licence, first started uni...many firsts.

I read posts of me thanking people who wished me happy birthday. Some of them are still around posting about their Arashi love, some just disappeared. Some still sent me birthday wishes this year, some didn't. Quite interesting to think of how our lives converged for a bit, and then diverged into separate paths.

I was particularly amused by this post, surprised by how accurate the analysis was actually was, on hindsight.

Anyway, in between cross posting, I watched a bit of tv.

Am battling against the September vox deadline but I cannot not post this. Listening to my mp3 shuffle, and this came on.

When I first heard this song, it was just another love song. But now....if you just overlook a few lines....it's like a song preparing us for days without him. The Japanese and Korean versions are very similar to each other. I was doing a check of the Korean lyrics and started singing along to the song. And within 2 lines, I started crying. I couldn't sing at all, and I sounded so bad, I had to turn up the volume to cover my embarrassing voice.

promise one  하루에 열 번 웃기로 해요
promise two 지금보다 두 배 행복하기로 해요
promise three 힘들 때도 세 번 눈물 참기로 해요
혹시 혼자 있대도 외롭다고 생각 마요
promise one Laugh 10 times each day
promise two Become 2 times as happy as you are now
promise three Even during difficult times, hold back your tears 3 times
Even if you're by yourself, don't feel lonely

Please do not repost the lyrics and translations anywhere without permission.

I'll meet you in dreams, till that time, goodbye. )

And so I started watching it. I had no intention of watching it because there's this bias that nothing can be better than HYD so I should not go watch it and start comparing. Furthermore, I need to spend more time studying. Demo, what I couldn't stop doing was to go to my imeem playlist to play some music while I study. And then, after a while, I decided to add more songs to the playlist....and then I remembered this song called 내 머러가 나빠서 (aka because I'm stupid), and so went to search for it. And then......................it started. I started watching BOF. It's good, but very similar to HYD, so I was comparing the two storyline...And since I knew the ultimate ending for each subplot already, I was just looking at the details because some parts are slightly different from HYD. Well, you can say part of the fun was lost, but to make up for it, there were original funny moments and of course, eye candy.

As usual, I'm attracted by Rui more. He's called jihoo in BOF and his horse, to my amusement, is called rui. LOL. Yes, they have horse-riding scenes in the drama, which makes the BOF world more...'exclusive'? Man, if only Kamio sensei would write an alternate ending for BOF (NOT HYD!)...then poor poor Jihoo would not be so pitiful (lol I'm only up to ep 8 though haha).

Below are two videos I want to share with you guys. This is the song that baited me to watch BOF (Not the other way round!!) Very catchy melody, by SS501, although only 3 out of 5 members sang this song. The guy who played Jihoo (hyun Joong, the group's leader) didn't sing. I like the guy in the middle most (out of the three singing) and I was initially confused because people called him Hyung Joon and I was like "Hyun Joong? The BOF guy? Doesn't look like him at all!". Their names are soooo similar.

My dear Kyu Jong... I haven't forgotten you!

From allkpop.com

SBS 'Strong Heart' is a popular show that involves guest celebrities unearthing past scandals, love stories, or any other juicy information that would potentially leave the public shocked, amused or puzzled. In particular, the audience was left teary-eyed and moved, on an episode that aired on December 1st. SS501's Kim Kyujong shared a story about his father, which he titled "My Hero, Kim Hong Dok."

The SS501 member described his dad as a 4-time world record-holding archer. However, things didn't look up for his family as their financial situation worsened. "My father was forced to give up sports and opened up a small snack stall. The business was doing well until 'people who used their fists' forced us out."

Kyujong added, "I wanted to become a singer so, starting from middle school, I began attending auditions. I came to Seoul, but there was no place for me to sleep. I decided to stay at my father's place and it was then that I realized he had been living in his office this entire time."

He continued, "During practices, I would mooch off food from the other members. However, I grew angry at the thought of not being able to repay them back, so I asked my father for an allowance. It was then that saw my father working for the first time. He was wearing training clothes, carrying cabbages. It's not like he was doing anything bad, but I felt strange because I had always seen my father as a strong and dignified person. I was about to turn around and leave when my father called to me and gave me a hefty sum (at the time) of 100,000 won (around $100). I took the money, but it hurt my heart to do so and tears began swelling up in my eyes. While reflecting on my actions, I felt so immature."

In the end, Kyujong even relayed a personal message for his father: "When I entered the real world, I came to understand your heart and I promised myself that I would become a great father like you in the future. Even though you may be having a hard time now, I will fulfill all the promises we made together so please be strong and... I love you. I hope you can be reborn as a father with a strong heart again."

I'm glad they sang it live. Well, you have to sing live at something like FNS deshou!? But Sho went a bit shaky in the bridge part of Ashita no Kioku...XP Overall, it was well delivered! And everyone looked so happy, especially Nino lol.

Omg...the harmony when he sang together with Arashi was great!

In the first part, when Ohno, Aiba and Jun were singing, the camera didn't focus on Oh-chan! Poor camera planning!

I heard that DBSK went on it too. And Kinki KIds, Smap, T&T, TOKIO, NYC Boys.. Can't wait for the full episode to be up for download!

Ok this is like super funny.

With all the essential scenes (confrontation, a third person whom one of the pair loves, scene at the airport where one of the pair leaves and the other rushes to stop that, the near-miss) and typical k-drama background music, this would make a good korean drama. Maybe.

I recently (ok a few wks ago) participated in a YB Project, and the results of that project is out here!

Basically, in response to JGS's msg on SBS's msg board (he reflected if it was because he didn't do a good job that the ratings weren't high, because he felt the rest of the cast was superb), international fans of YB got together and compiled messages to send to the YB team. What started out as a simple email idea somehow got included into a visit by Korean DC Gallery members to the set. In that blog are an account of the visit, photos of the cast with the project and much others. Go have a look!!

It's really, worldwide. Like I haven't been surprised by Arashi enough...but this is just a drama. It's not a band or grou or anything. Yet, the following is..amazing.

Once again, the power of the Internet. ORZ. I fall at your feet.

Here are the videos containing those messages.

And this is JGS acknowledging the project.

I've participated in numerous such events, to arashi, SS501, Raymond...but this is the first time I actually feel that "I was part of something that made a difference!" 장근석, 100야! Fan-service.

Oh and I it's funny how JGS actually wrote in DC Gallery some spoilers for upcoming episodes, but because he had no proof (eg a photo of himself), no one believed what he said and even told him to go play elsewhere. LOL..I've seen plenty of such messages around, and usually don't bother to click, because they're either crap or if real, things I don't want to get spoilt about.

[edit] More videos of the visit on DC (This is mainly on JGS, for the rest, click the links below the video).

The brightest star in episode 14...

Who do you think was the brightest star in episode 14?

For me, it was him...

who shone in spite of the sorrowful darkness that filled those few minutes,
who took over from Shin Woo to be this episode's star,
who beat even Tae Kyung's sweet (though unoriginal) kiss.

Let's recap those heartwrenching moments...

I'm more impressed by the fact that the crew got together to film the special introductory video for Hongki in spite of their hectic filmig schedule. C.N.Blue (Yong Hwa) and the one who acted as Mi Nam's aunt went there too. Ah the bond....And C.N.Blue performed 3 songs as guest performers. I really like what I see, which I hope is true. Surprisingly, even Jolie made an appearance. LOL

While waiting impatiently for my copy of  the Arashi PV dvd, I've finally gotten myself to download SS501's new mini album, released 1 yr and 7 mths since their last album. I shouldn't have because now I am really tempted to order a copy of it. No, make it two. One Kor version with 2 posters and a 100 pg photo diary, and one Tw version with 1 clear file and a dvd including the PV, making off and trailers. Really! I've got the window opened since last night! Had previously intended to buy it when I go to Korea next yr, but now I'm super tempted...

I did a translation of the song I loved most in the mini album. I liked all the songs, really, surprisingly, on first listening. No wonder SS501 said that this is as perfect as they can get. But, this last song on the album, is a light piece, and I felt really happy after listening....it's a soothing piece. And after I googled abit about it, I realised that it's written for fans by SS501! It's called "green peas" - SS501 fans are also called green peas, a pun on the korean word for peas. The melody is light, the tune easy to sing along to, and with the injection of random phrases, it felt 'live' and is easy to connect to. Compared to Arashi's 5x10 song of thanks to fans, it's a totally different style.

So here I bring you the translation

(Didn't like the change in image for the cover at first, but now they're starting to get to me!)

Some YT videos inside, hopefully they still work! )

At matsuzy's suggestion, I bought the Hong Gil Dong dvd. I didn't really pay any interest in it when it aired on cabletv because I don't particularly like Korean period dramas (Dae Jang Geum anyone?). Besides, at that time, I didn't know JGS was in it - insert the prior reason for not paying attention to the commercials. When I got to know that, I still didn't have the motivation to watch for he wasn't the lead.
But aniwaes, I decided to give it a try and found it reasonably worthed the watch. Although the ending (in terms of coupling) was predictable, I still enjoyed the process. Ignoring the ridiculous modern elements woven into the period drama, the way too much Gil Dong - Yi Nok scenes that I sometimes just skipped through, it could be said to be engaging. At certain points where it starts to feel slightly draggy, the plot would develop in another direction to keep me interested.
Aniwaes, this is a spam post for me to fangirl over my JGS who acted as the prince Chang Hwe.
Many disliked the ending, but I quite liked it...there wasn't clear evidence pointing to the death of Gil Dong and Yi Nok, so perhaps they had managed to survive and left for China. Or maybe Chang Hwe had given secret orders to save them and send them away after the aristocrats are satisfied with the staged confrontation. There is evidence that Chang Hwe didn't turn all bad though. The young boy and Gil Dong's master's conversation pointed to the fact that social classes didn't stop anyone from doing things, at least for education, which we know is the gate to many possibilities. The point about not being able to attend school due to poverty is something to be dealt with of course, but back in those days, ridding barriers from social classes is a big deal already. I was so worried my poor Chang Hwe would turn bad after struggling so long to do the right thing within the constraints forced by his position. PHEW! I don't agree with Gil Dong though. He's too idealistic. Like what Chang Hwe said, there has to be a compromise, a step by step plan to achieve their ideal world. Gil Dong wanted a change to big, too fast...I don't see what's the point of dying for your dream. Will that help to move towards the dream? Wouldn't it be better if he had stayed to guide the new king towards that dream? Isn't that more practical? I guess the screenwriters just wanted a dramatic ending, though I have to say that that final battle scene was amazing, from picture composition to the dialogue, to the music.
Here's the pic spam of my pretty boy! He's like Lee Jun Ki, but he doesn't evoke the 'omg girl!' feeling in me...pretty as he is, he still shows masculinity. Lee Jun Ki's features are really sharp, and really pretty...Some people said his acting was lacking, and he only showed a blank face without any inner emotions for most of the drama. Well, I have no issue with that....in fact I felt that he carried his character well with this sad/depressed aura throughout. *shrugs* But I'm no expert. I found HJL's Jihoo good too. X)

Have you seen such a pretty face? (yes of course hehe, but...)

Why Kaminari 雷? Because Thunder follows Storm. 嵐の中に雷がいる。

It started with an innocent comment made during work. I was bored, and it seemed fun...

But I didn't expect to get into the team, coz my singing, while not like Jun, is not Ohno either.

So we got together, sang, and sent. That was just 2 weeks ago.

Suddenly, everything started moving so quickly. We made it through, and we've got to learn the dance moves.

For the past week, we've practiced almost everyday.

And today, the big day.

Though we didn't get through, it was fun! Really. And I learnt quite alot. I'm glad I made the reckless move.

Just so I can look back and say, "those were the days..." )

I've still got one paper left, but I just had to post this...

MTV was on and this PV came out. And I fell in love with it immediately! The tune is simple. The lyric is simple. The MV is quite simple. Yet the song is beautiful. And Ayumi's voice really shone. I did a rough translation of the song so, enjoy the PV!

Exams are going to start real soon so I'll be MIA again. =( Hopefully arashi doesn't come out with anything really exciting this month! Aniwaes, I want to share with you guys this Korean group. They're the first Korean singers I really liked, apart for Park Yong Ha, which is a little ambiguous coz he mainly sings Japanese songs.

It all started when I was so bored in school during break, I went to youtube to get some entertainment, and clicked on this video which was really popular then. It was a live performance of one of the theme songs in Boys Over Flowers, Because I'm Stupid by SS501. That song really got me hooked, as well as the very loud and uniform cheering (Yes, K fans are...suge~) from the audience, which I didn't understand till recently. I kept listening to it for a few days but then I stopped. Till recently, after I got psycho-ed into buying two kdrama series by the very persuasive salegirls at BlueMax (I went in with the intention just to buy Pride and Prejudice - OMG the version has subtitles! Fortunately I didn't buy the BCC ver!), I was so deprived of something to watch that I went to find BOF online. And from there, I got hooked to the song again. Went to search, and found out that the guy acting as Rui is in SS501, the group that sang the song.

So, my Korean version of Arashi! Well, can't really compare coz I haven't got time to go watch SS501 variety shows to see them off-perf.

At least, there's five persons in the group.

There is one people refer to as Leader.
There is one people refer to a Baby (omg Jen's constant reference is making me link the word to Aiba-chan!).
There is one main rapper.
And I got introduced to them via HYD, like Arashi.
They all look alike to me, for now, like Sho, AIba, Ohno and Nino back them.

One thing different though, I don't have a favourite pairing in Arashi, but I have one in SS501, though I have no idea why coz it definitely isn't because of their interactions. I just like them together.

Banner by xkayex@Quainte

XD Their songs are good. Really a wide range of fast dance numbers and slow ballads. People say they're similar to DBSK, but I don't listen to DBSK, so I don't know and don't care. The only thing is that almost all their live perf seem to have a lot of back dancers, so it gets messy and confusing sometimes. I so prefer Arashi/Japanese/JE perf where the focus is really on the artistes.

A cute song under the cut! )A cute song under the cut! )

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to all my Chinese readers!! Today's 初一 and I'm sure most of us are visiting our relatives. While waiting for people to come over, I'll share with you guys this song I heard Fiona Sit (HK singer/actress) sing on yesterday's countdown in hk. The tune is quite nice and a few short portions bear resemblance with very famous piece by Theresa Teng. But I love the lyrics the best....And this line struck a chord with me.

忘記Mr. Right Mr. Wrong一次

Forget Mr Right, love Mr Wrong, just once

Sometimes, it's best to just take the plunge. You'd never know how things may turn out.
Not perfect, but definitely better than expected.

Ok, I promise this will be the last spam post I'll be posting. This time, it's about a guy called

パク・ヨンハ    박용하    Park Yong Ha

Borned August 12 1977, he was known for his role as Bae Yong Joon's love rival, Kim Sang Hyuk, in Winter Sonata. Well, I've never watched it before so I didn't know. But apparently, based on one interview by him, he had visited Japan to promote the drama there and during one of the events, he sang My Memory from the drama's OST and was later invited to release a cd in Japan. Hence, he debuted as a singer in Japan in 2004. Since then, he has had a rather successful music career in Japan, selling many cds which ranked high on the Oricon charts and held numerous concert tours.

As a singer, he had won numerous awards at Japan's Golden Disc Award 日本ゴールドディスク大賞 .

2005 : New Artist Of The Year (International)
2006 : Song Of The Year (International) // Japan-Korea Friendship Year Special Award
2007 : Single Of The Year (International) // Best Asian Artist (along with F4 and Shinhwa)
2008 : Single Of The Year (International) // Best Asian Artist (sole recipient)

Even rewatching all the videos.....made me love him so much more...watching him grow through the years.... )
