Memorable quotes
Oct. 18th, 2018 03:47 amThere ought to be a thousand more, but I've forgotten most of them (ironically, since they're 'memorable quotes') so here's all I can remember as of now. Will add more as I recall more/find more in new dramas!
In viewing order, from latest to oldest:
( All under the cut! )
Can I be absolutely honest and say this:
I'm not very into Lotus. It's not the typical jpop, so I think I'll need a long time to start loving it, like some other Arashi songs. And the dance. It's odd. Quite different from previous Arashi dances, and in fact reminding me of Perfume/KARA's dances quite a bit.
Even the coupling songs didn't grab my heart. =S
Ever wasn't as melodious as Over. Boom Boom sounds like a kpop piece.
But I am superficial when it comes to Arashi, so I'm still quite satisfied with these:
Jun's PJ-look.
Ohno's yell, which I love forever, anytime, anywhere.
[EDIT] Ok, after putting Lotus on loop while typing this post, I've grown to quite enjoy the quirky bits quite a bit. =) But why is it called Lotus?
I had a company dinner last night, reached home at 12, watch a bit of HnA on my bed, and the next thing I know, it was 6 am, and I had slept in front of my laptop. So, i switched it off, brushed my teeth and got back to sleep. I was woken up by a phone call, asking where I was. !!!!! A had a movie date which I was surely late for!!
We watched The King's Speech today.
I think it must be the Oscar/Grammy effect. because the movie threatre was so full! I mean, that movie is not exactly very mainstream. The plot hinted at a risk that the movie woul go flat and all inspiration with no fun. But fortunately, it had more than Colin Firth's awesomeness to keep me engaged for the entire length.
- Colin Firth's charm.
- Colin Firth's acting.
- WItty lines and comebacks from various characters.
These are three reasons to watch this movie. It's not boring!! Maybe the lack of subtitles kept some people from fully understanding what the characters were saying (yes, although we boast our country as English speaking, I have to admit that the Western accent sometimes feel difficult to catch), it just needs some getting used to. I thoroughly enjoyed myself while listening intently for the funny bits that lined conversations and even the smallest remarks.
Happy Lunar New Year
Feb. 4th, 2011 12:20 pmHappy new year, dear fellow Chinese fans.
I'm back at 'home' to visit my relatives, so I can use the net a little!! (It's complicated)
Interesting reads from the friend list:
Rumours of economic disparity within Arashi and Sho setting up his own jimusho
HAHAHA. Ridiculous. WHo can do that in the J entertainment world and not get ostrasized? No, not even THE Sakurai can do it. But I welcome any news about their earnings. It's like the greatest mystery of JE.
Arashi's cariculture on Asahi Shinbun
It's so cute, I want it!! People are selling it at.....................the price of a magazine. =.=
I'm really proud of the boys. The title of the spread is
ARASHI meets MANGA - Nippon no Arashi, Nippon no Manga
I'm so so proud of this.
Because, we all know that manga is one culture asset of Japan ne. Hence, 'Nippon no Manga".
And then, "Nippon of Arashi". Can I extrapolate the above and say that Arashi is considered an asset of Japan too? Not to the same level but around the same level as manga is?
And the thing is, under each manga art of the member is a product advertisement.
AU Android.
Nitendo 3DS
Hitachi products
Tongari corn
Arashi jet (with the official Arashi logo!!!)
It's like Arashi has transversed the advertisement industry such that various advertisers are coming together to launch a combined campaign. <3
The power of Arashi.
There is something very wrong with me.
I'm actually thinking very hard into the two options I have for 31 Dec 2010.[a] Stay at home the whole evening to watch Arashi's historical moment on Kouhaku.
[b] Go for new year countdown at Universal Studios with my uni friends.
Obviously, I should be going for [b]. But...I want to share Arashi's moment. And I may not find the full show download (my tv recorder is spoilt). But yet it's so stupid, because friends are more 'real' in my life than Arashi.
Argh.

ユさん: You need to get this! Very nice!
私: OMG so much member love! Im definitely getting it!
イェンさん: Hey do you want TV Japan?
私: Is it nice? Got my Juntoshi? Haha...
イェンさん: Got. Tey've got every pairing. Each member talks about the different pairings.
私: Kyaa!! But sounds familiar. I go check if I have already.
*goes home, get bedazzled by the member love scans*
私: Ah just help me get it, thanks!

*pack the concert goods to pass to friends tomorrow*
私: Eh? What's this thing....
*pulls out a TV Japan from the pamphlet paper bag*
=.=''''
I'm meeting them tomorrow, and I'll be getting another issue of TV Japan.
And I'm such a fail! memory person that now I'm not even sure if the recommendation to buy in Japan pertains to this mag or the TV guide with Arashi doing that gurl make up. =.= FAIL.
They Budou
Dec. 19th, 2010 01:41 amSTEP 1
Browse through the Jan 2011 Duet, Wink Up and Potato to try find the Jr group he is in.
Failed.
STEP 2
Google for Arashi backdancers.
Failed.
STEP 3
Search Yahoo Japan for Japanese accounts of Arashi backdancers.
Failed.
STEP 4
Recalled seeing the guy on one of the Christmas greetings video in the Johnnys Family Club, and that people actually ripped Arashi's message from the J-web (a different version, but filmed on same day), so searched for the J-web and tried to find that guy's video.
Succeed.
To watch the group, go here. Click on the "Johnny's Christmas Message 2010" banner on the right sidebar. Click on the gourd-like ornament on the bottom right of the Christmas tree (hover over to see if it read "They武道").
Yeah, from that group. What's with the name....And they're not featured at all in the YE mags. Meaning, they aren't an established group?
So, basically, it's this guy:

What's with him huh?
Well, there was this part during the 21 Nov concert I went to where the members were all quite far away attending to the stands fans. And just nice, two backdancers were dancing on the hanamichi in front of me. The two in that picture. So, since I couldn't see the boys clearly, I just looked at that right hand side guy dance. And then. He blew a kiss at me.
O.O
The odd thing is, due to the high tension and excitement, I actually felt my heart stop when he did that!
=.=''''
If only it was Nino or something!!
ANYTHING CAN BE SOLD
Dec. 12th, 2010 05:58 pmThis is perhaps the last weekend I'll have for myself until June, and what am I spending it on?
Arashi yahoo auction surfing.
But really, it's fun (and painful to just see and not buy) and turns up very, very interesting things.
Like...
How a pair of tickets to the Kouhaku is going for 271,900 yen.And another pair over here for 310,888 yen. Oh, one more pair at 269,000. Well, of course we can't attribute it to just Arashi, it might be the fans of any of the groups performing...but.......
How 6 photos, of the Arashi jet and the HnA truck, are going for 270 yen. Not a skyhigh price, but the fact that people actually sell/buy such things...ANYTHING CAN BE SOLD.
And here are the things that the very DoM me wants! T.T Why do I actively seek out 悔しさ?
2009-2010 Countdown Concert uchiwa!!
Handmade Arashi-ppoi wallet. It's really quite nice, but it's getting too expensive. =(
Folder container? For work!
Don't blacklist and condemn me forever, please!
I think I might be exaggerating things but I really think that I'm going to be branded useless, blur, careless, not dependable etc etc for the rest of my years at the firm.
How?

Nov. 20th, 2010 02:30 amNo full concert report, because I suck at those and I'm sure someone else can write a much better one.
But I'm gonna just jolt down what I can remember from the day.
( So, it ended up very very long. Not guaranteed to be accurate. My memory is bad. )
Concert audio clip, only for friends. Please refer to this post for the password.
Part 01/02
Not very high quality though. There's a 1 min 20 sec blank at the start so just skip over.

First time working overseas
Nov. 15th, 2010 10:27 pmFirst day of work overseas.
It was a seminar, followed by a meeting with a potential client (that didn't go on too well).
Anyway, it was 'accidentally' leaked to the Tokyo office reps that I know some Japanese. And the next thingI know, they were asking me which part of Japan I like. Of course, I replied (but not without hesitation to reveal the idol-loving, unprofessional side of me) "Arashi". I was going to say "嵐っていうグループ"/A group called Arashi" when the two reps 'U'-san and 'D'-san said, almost immediately, "Ah...Arashi, Arashi."
And while I thought tht would be the last of it....
We had company dinner this evening. U-san, D-san, 'A'-san, 'X'-san and us from the Singapore office. And the first thing that followed my introduction was "she can speak Japanese!"
A 'M''-san came later and when the Tokyo office people introduced me, they again brought up how I can speak Japanese, Korean, Cantonese and whatever. And then! And then!
M-san: Do you like a Japanese idol group?
D-san: She likes Arashi!
M-san: Oh Arashi! My dauughter is also a big fan!
Me: Really?
M-san: Yes.
A-san: At the Haneda....
Me: Yes, yes, Haneda Airport...
M-san: Which member do you like?
Me (tried to think of someone who will make me sound intelligent):.....................
M-san: Ohno?
D-san: Oh-chan?
Me: Yes.
X-san: Is he the youngest?
Me: Nope, the oldest.
D-san: Eh....Ohno? Doesn't seem like it (like he's popular).
Me: And Matsujun too.
M-san: Icic.
And a while later...
M-san: So is this your first time in Japan?
Me: Nope, I come to Japan frequently.
M-san: Do you come to watch concerts?
Me: Yes.
O.O
I kinda regret revealing that actually... But in any case, businessman actually know Ohno as Oh-chan! And the name Matsujun! And the thing is, M-san actually could guess that I like a Japanese idol group just from the fact that I can speak Japanese! I'm amazed.
I had only intended to post about the chorus, which I love very much, but I ended up translating the whole song, so here you go!

Mrs Lee Kuan Yew
Oct. 2nd, 2010 09:14 pmWas just watching Channel News Asia....
I saw a subtitle at the bottom of the page when I first entered the channel. Not reading it properly, I thought that our SM passed on, and my heart sunk. When I read it again, it was his wife. But still, the sense of loss is there.
Our founding father, the one who headed the plan to build up our small trading port....he's quite advanced in age too. So...anytime...news may break. When that happens, my heart will break too, along with millions of Singaporeans.
So many deaths of politicians in recent years.
Thank you for all your efforts.
I do love Singapore. It's the best country I can ever imagine myself to be born in.
Another single!?
Sep. 28th, 2010 01:27 amI was working (OT yet again) when Angel smsed me about Arashi's new single.
My first reaction was "HUH? I thought their new single is Dear Snow?"
Then after processing it a bit more, I figured that it's the single after Dear Snow. I guess it's for Nino's drama? O.o How many singles are they releasing this year?! But I'm glad that the Jimusho is putting in more effort to market the single.
I'm going to put this behind my locker door tmr (secretly, of course)

Just to give myself motivation whenever (which is basically almost everyday) I work OT.
I work hard for them!!!! HAHA. How wrong a thought.....
Promise by Park Yong Ha
Sep. 22nd, 2010 09:20 pmAm battling against the September vox deadline but I cannot not post this. Listening to my mp3 shuffle, and this came on.
When I first heard this song, it was just another love song. But now....if you just overlook a few lines....it's like a song preparing us for days without him. The Japanese and Korean versions are very similar to each other. I was doing a check of the Korean lyrics and started singing along to the song. And within 2 lines, I started crying. I couldn't sing at all, and I sounded so bad, I had to turn up the volume to cover my embarrassing voice.
promise one 하루에 열 번 웃기로 해요
promise two 지금보다 두 배 행복하기로 해요
promise three 힘들 때도 세 번 눈물 참기로 해요
혹시 혼자 있대도 외롭다고 생각 마요
promise one Laugh 10 times each day
promise two Become 2 times as happy as you are now
promise three Even during difficult times, hold back your tears 3 times
Even if you're by yourself, don't feel lonely
Please do not repost the lyrics and translations anywhere without permission.
Back from Bangkok.
Sep. 22nd, 2010 12:16 amIt wasn't as bad I had imagined it to be...and we got to see the Red Shirts' protest live.
I was quite amused by this big panel advertisment for a beauty clinic at the street corner of my hotel.

I recognised Kim Joon right away. But the other 2? Are they from Tmax? *shrugs*
I think kpop is very big in Thailand. I see endorsements by K artistes (official or unofficial) everywhere. When I go to shopping malls, I hear korean songs broadcasted through the sound system. And on the second day, I came across this road show selling tv sets. And yes, Korean PVs were playing (thank god no Nobody!) - Shinee and SuJu. A small group of girls gathered behind me and one even took out a Siwon uchiwa (lol she carries it everywhere?).
Not much Jpop, but on my final day, I did spot this lady, dressed in office wear, carrying a backpack with a certain Johnny boy's photo keychain hanging from the bag.
And guess who the boy is?
My darling junjun!
Oh, shopping was really cheap there. But the most no-value-for-money (it costed a total of 300 plus baht) were these.

But I had to buy them.
