Gantz 2

I didn't manage to join my dear fellow fangirls at the GANTZ screening today, but I caught it with my lovelies at night.

Boy, how surreal it was to see Nino and Matsuken on the posters just before my eyes (yeah, a far cry from the Arashi-fied world of Tokyo, but still...).

The movie was much better than expected, my expectations having been affected by the many modest reviews on the movie.

Exciting fight scenes, interesting aliens everytime, hilarious moments scattered around, and of course, two of my favourite actors on the screen. Chemistry-wise, I felt that they have to work a bit harder to tug at our heartstrings for the buddies. Pacing-wise, I felt at several point a drag, but those moments don't last too long, fortunately.

I never found Nino hot in the GANTZ suit...until today, when I see him/it in action. His character was bordering annoying with his "I'm the hero so move aside and let me do my work" attitude, so I hope he can redeem himself somehow, like he did towards the very end.

My only complaint isn't towards the movie, but towards the couple behind me, who kept commenting throughout the movie.

"Is that person (Kanata Hongo) male or female?"
"He hasn't died yet, he'll die later..."

How rude.

One very very pleasant surprise was Yamada Takayuki appearing at the very last scene! I was more curious about his role than Matsuken's Kato's reappearance onscreen in spite being declared dead by GANTZ. kekekekeke....I think I've read about him being in GANTZ 2, but that was too long ago so I didn't recall at all! In fact, after looking at the movie poster again, I realised that he's in the poster too! Haha, for just a 2 minute appearance!

I wonder if the cinema goers in Singapore find it weird that the more well-known (to them, due to the more viral Death Note movie series) Matsuken appeared to be second lead while the who-is-that-small-guy Nino took up so much screentime. I wonder if Matsuken will get more screentime/character development in part 2 because while the official movie poster features both equally prominent, the movie made it seem otherwise.

Can I bring this home? I need to get a GV movie staff bbf.

Was totally enjoying the GANTZ navi dvd (omg Nino plus Matsuken plus Takayuki, what more can I ask for?!) until I reached the one on Matsuken's birthday.

So...'Macchan' is not exclusive to Jun? And Nino baked his first cake for Matsuken?

Well oh well...

But wait. Didn't one of Arashi bake a cake for a magazine section before? Who was it? If I'm not wrong it was Nino right?

That aside,

I cannot wait for GANTZ.

And I'm disappointed I can't be there when it releases in Japan!

Finally watched it!

I was quite surprised to see it appearing on GV's site because it's not really a mainstream movie and usually GV only airs mainstreams or blockbusters, while Cathay airs the lesser-known Japanese and indies. But surprise surprise! Cathay didn't air it this time. GV did! I can't remember which aired the first movie.

I'm so glad I caught it. Although it's just a gruesome/bloody, I totally enjoyed the fight scenes. The only part I didn't like was the implied sexuality by one of the Shizuran guy, Makio (or sth..can't remember the actual name). As usual, dear dear Takayuki was outstanding, and Oguri kept changing image in that he was crazy and rough in one scene yet blur and green in another. I can't remember why but I think during the first movie I was hoping he would get together with that girl from the band. Yet this time, I was happy that she didn't get to appear much. XP

I was wondering why Haruma appeared in the film because his part seems to be so insignificant! Afterall, I remember reading that this is the last CROWS for both Oguri and Yamada. But I guess that's not the last we'll hear from CROWS. Haruma will take the place as lead I guess, in his bid to win Shizuran. I think he can't replace the feelings I get from watching Oguri and Yamada fight. It's so adrenaline driving, I think they own CROWS.

Both are such versatile actors (Oguri in Hanakimi and HYD, Yamada in Taiyou no Uta and the other classics like Densha Otoko and Crying Out Love In The Center Of The World)!

Oh, another guy I noticed since movie 1 was the one acting Izaki Shun (the blonde head). I did a bit of googling on him. He's called Takaoka Sosuke. Married to Miyazaki Aoi since 2007, after dating for 7 years! They started dating when she was 15 and him 18! OMG! So unbelievable!

I took these pictures from the dorama's official site.

Notice anything odd about the pictures?

No?

.

Well, the female's taller than the male.

Although the two didn't get paired up in the dorama, it still looks odd just based on these pictures, ne? I'm not anti-'tall girl + short guy' but maybe it's the cultural influences I've grown accustomed to, I feel strange looking at such a pair.

I myself am quite tall. Not soaring tall, but standing at 1.71m, I am tall for my country. So I've always hesitated wearing heels. It's not just the problem of backaches high heels can potentially bring, but also because I don't want to look too tall. =/ Then on the other hand, it's a fact that heels makes one look better and can lengthen one's legs.

I used to have nothing against my height but recently, while on a shopping frenzy, my height bothered me a bit.

I was looking for some dresses (long, to the ankles type) after being influenced by an actress's dressing style in Hachimitsu To Clover (see post below). However, no matter how hard I looked, the longest dress I found were up to my knees. Those that were supposed to be knee-length (and quite pretty) turned out to be too short for me.

And then there was an incident at Valerie at Hereen where I tried on a knee-length dress. Because the mirror was outside the fitting room, I had to exit the room to look at myself in the mirror. There was a couple outside paying for their purchases and after I re-entered the room, I heard someone commenting that the dress was too short for me. I even heard someone (not sure if it was the same person) saying that they were saying it too loudly. F. Mind your own business. In the end, I pretended I couldn't hear anything.

See? The problem of being of being too tall. I can't even find a dress I like!

As if that wasn't enough, my mom had to remind me of my height, saying that if I grew any taller, I'll have problems finding a bf. =.= (Oh yeah, this is the reason why I posted the two pics up there in the first place) So, what do you guys think?

Tall girl + shorter guy = ????

My family has been asking me if I have a bf ever since I entered Uni. It's sooo frustrating! Argh. X.X I have better things to do yo!

Ok, lastly,

YAMADA TAKAYUKI is HOT!

=P I just had to say that!
(although he's short)

Of course, ARASHI is HOT TOO!
(I have strange definitions of what's hot and what's not)

YAY! I'm at my gm's place now so I can use her comp to update woot! =)
I was watching tv last night when mokmok surprised me by calling all the way from Australia! Thankies dear!!! She asked me this question which a friend of hers posed to her.

What's your purpose on earth?

I have no idea, actually. And I don't think there's a fixed answer. All of us have different purposes, and our purposes change every now and then as we experience life and change our priorities and outlook in life. Well, coincidentally, the tv dorama i was watching then kind of posed a similar question.

I was watching タイヨウのうた (Taiyou no Uta//Song of the Sun). Mokmok: You like watching such shows about death.多分な。。。=]

LOADS OF CAPS & SPOILERS AHEAD.

I've finally watched this dorama. When I heard of this dorama and that Sawajiri Erika is the female lead, I became really interested in it and was waiting impatiently for th dvd to hit local stores. However, during the waiting period, negative news/tabloids about Erika appeared now and then and that caused my interest in the dorama to wane...till a week ago.

The reason behind my rekindled interest in this dorama is this guy:

Yamada Takayuki 山田孝之

DOB: 1983-Oct-20 (25 years old)
Height: 169cm
Has a son with an ex-gf, 3 years old

I was really shocked when I read that he has a son. He's only 25 years old! Amazing ne!

Classic example of what happens when I'm crazy about a show. )
