From Twitter, so not sure of the reliability, but there are many similar tweets around so....

昨日のFNS、嵐楽屋にスタッフが来て謝罪するも「来年よろしくお願いしますっ」。大野ソロの時マイクがはいっていないために、二宮が自分のマイクを渡しソロを歌う。

After FNS last night, although the Fuji tv staff went to Arashi's greenroom to apologise, Arashi just said, "We look forward to next year's show". As Ohno's mic wasn't turned on during his solo, Nino passed his mic to him for the solo part.

I.

Love.

Them.

Meikyu Love Song.

Was it the mike/sound system?

The sound was uneven. At times, I cannot hear their voices with the live music overpowering the singing.

They sounded...off, perhaps due to the harmony they were try to achieve, but hindered by the mike/sound system.

I know their live singing isn't that good, but I am quite sure they are more capable than this. Especially Ohno! So...can I blame it on the sound system?

=S

What an apt song.

A very simple set, simple clothes, simple performance.

But I love it.

Screencaps under the cut. )

Such an apt song.
Nino's ability to make people's heart wrench with his expressions, Ohno's very simple yet sincere expression, and the other three's effort to portray a 'we can do it' atmosphere.

I think the simplicity of it all made the performance convincing as an attempt to cheer people up, and not a promotion gimmick (not that Arashi will resort to such things). It's just so sincere, just the boys trying to convey their feelings and hopes. I felt the warmth radiating filtering through. <3

I hope this brought some courage to their fellow countryman!

On a fangirling note, Ohno's hair is so short! Kaibutsu-kun? And Nino, my gosh. I. Loved. His. Hair. evenmorethanJun'sinthere.

涙は流さない その日まで
Namida wa nagasanai Sono hi made

My dear Riida, who's always appalled when he, HE, makes mistakes.

This brought to mind a conversation I had with Cass.

If I'd wanted to fangirl over a true vocally talented singer, I'd have stuck with my Leehom and Mayday instead of venturing into this land of no return. But this very blog post is evidence of my choice to immerse myself into this unique showbiz segment called the Idol market (that has slowly faded in other parts of the world) in Japan. Idols are idols. Why should anyone judge them based on things that they are not meant to do, by definition? They are doing what they ought to do as idols, so that's good enough. To have them go beyond that, and overlap with what other showbiz segments are responsible for, is a bonus.

Am tired and stressed. Going to bed now. Ja ne, dear flist. =)

What's better than to start the new year with what we all love most?

Our beloved Arashi. Oh boy, I was pleasantly surprised when Nino did most of the talking instead of Sho (in his own words, the one who just does it, naturally).

Relieving him from his MC duties was a good idea, because it freed up his inner self to do things he really wanted. Like COPY Nino's signature wink. Go watch it. It's hilarious! You know the wink that Nino always gives to show how amazing he think he is, complete with the neck movement? HAHA COPYCAT Sho. And lol at Nino and Jun in this cap, for they were both pursing their lips. At Sho. hehe.

Why did they have to make Arashi perform OUTSIDE in the middle of Winter, on top of a building where wind is blowing from all directions? Why not just a studio? I don't know, but this rooftop set up is really pretty.

Stuck between melting (at Ohno) and laughing (at Aiba).

Ok, meltinged.

The background people are distracting!!! Only Arashi can make dancing such moves look all happy and cute.

Having had the attention stolen from them, Juntoshi plotted to get it back now!

And they succeed. They looked so happy! Go away, Nino! =P

Fine fine fine. You're amazing. Not as a s**-powerhouse, but a camwhore that Johnny-san would be proud of. The moment the camera changed, you turned to cast your powerful gaze at the new one! SUGOI!

Finally, let's end off with some Sho.

Sho waving to the sky (at the camera shooting from the top?) when the screen isn't showing that camera. Nino should be nice and share his camwhore tips with Sho. hehe....

Sho smiling. In an odd way.

Sho looking stupid.

Sho...looking stupid.

Don't get me wrong. I love stupid sho. He's so funny...I cannot imagine him as newscaster. I cannot!

Because I love the gap.

Like how the boys who cannot sing (very well), cannot dance (very well), have tons of footages showing embarrassing moments...

Can be super heroes helping to save (even if just a little) Japan's economy through tourism, sales and promoting optimism.

NUMBER 1 HERO OF NEW SALVATION

And I'm thankful for the slight quiver at the "zutto~" line at the end of Love Rainbow. It's LIVE! yay.

Happy for the boys that they performed last, coz usually the more 'prominent' spots are the first and last.

Got high over Jun's new hairstyle, and some skinship between the boys.

But I was fooled into thinking (from the clock image) that they were going to perform Tokei Jikake no umbrella. IF ONLY they performed it live, at least once. Imagine the dance! HOT. Definitely HOT. Maybe hotter than Truth.

As for the performance, I wouldn't say it's one of their best. Especially for Monster. You could see that the boys weren't really dancing with vigour, and some steps were could sloppishly done. And I spotted Ohno making minor slipups like wrong footwork, spinning too fast etc etc. Maybe they're too overwhelmed by all the year end work?

Take care, boys.

They can.

Our boys can sing live.

Though the condition is that they sit and not dance around.

=]

The violin kind of overpowered the voices at some points, and sometimes I can hear one distinct voice over the rest. But fortunately Jun didn't have a solo part in there. lol, don't get me wrong, I love off-pitch jun. love is blind.

But it's still good.

Short post before I drop dead on bed.

Seriously, MGIAG is probably one of my favourite (light) dramas in recent years (because Slingshot will remain as my favourite heavy plot drama).

The flow is even, so there's none of the usual kdrama drag in later episodes. The chemistry builds up over time. The acting of the leads, especially the male lead (and I'm not being biased, really) is convincing and reaches into your heart. The plot is interesting due to the mystical element that makes things unpredictable, even the ending. Under a few overlapping main arches such as "will one of them die at the end of 100 days" and "will she survive in the end", the story generates new questions after answers are given, and that makes each episode worth looking forward to. It is a good mix of light-hearted scenes and heavy angsty ones, so while you squeal your heart out at cutesy scenes (mainly rabu rabu scenes between the leads), you feel your feet firmly planted on earth by the life-and-death storyline.

And even the final episode was paced well, with no drag. From 1/3 into the episode, I was crying, all the way to the last 5 minutes. This is spite of me knowing (darn the spoilers) the happy ending. Because the leads do not know that there'll be a happy ending, they behave in ways that break your heart. And I cried for the second lead, not because he didn't get the girl (it was never about him loving the girl anyway), but because he was so filled with regrets of a mistake he did a thousand years ago.

You can read the recap of the final ep here at dramabeans. If you have not watched this wonderful drama, go give it a try. Unlike You're Beautiful (which I love), this is one which is going to be on my list of "dramas to rewatch soon".

Night.

[Edit]

I decided to watch the Dear Snow perf before sleeping...My first time hearing this song!

Some screencaps inside )

Ok, now really time for bed.
karened: (Default)

I was distracted from the whole MiniSuite Talk by the very obvious Ohmiya bullying on the left side of the screen.
Nino pushing Ohno into the background by leaving no gap between himself and Aiba.
And the look Ohno gave Nino when Nino finally let him into the line.

More screencaps under the cut so they won't flood your f-page! )

PHEW! I had totally forgotten about 紅白歌合戦 until 15mins ago, when I started to clear space for the impending JE Countdown download. So, frantically I switched on the tv and checked the 紅白 website to check up if I have missed Arashi already. Mika Nakashima was singing, so, I was just 6 songs from Arashi! PHEW! Choohh lucky.

Mika's fringe was odd...and her dress made her at least 5 years older. Oh well....I still prefer NANA Mika.

And then, YUZU! With my favourite song aitai, supposedly written for his father. I really liked the contrast during their performance. The stage looked really grand with bright lights and royal-looking decorations. But there they were, two man in front of standing mics, singing and playing the guitar. They looked so bare. I loved their harmony. XD

Now, waiting for Arashi! I'm kinda sad that I missed TOKIO though. =S Nvm...Kobukuro is after Arashi, so at least I have 2 groups to watch. My wish fulfilled! Them, on tv!

[EDIT]

HAHA! My gf saw me camping in front of the tv. "Are you watching this?" he asked, refering to the enka-looking singer on tv.

"No, mine is coming up in 10 mins. I'm gonna watch for 5 mins and you can switch channels after that."

"Arashi?"

haha!! I was totally beaming when they appeared!

My gosh, I loved their costumeS. The first one was red...at first I thought it was pink, a shade deeper than Kitto Daijyoubu's. Demo, I think it's red. I liked how during Happiness they started to go wild a la concerts. Jun even leaped (literally leaped) off the stage and go up close to the audience, shaking hands, smiling, bowing...KAWAII...like an over-excited kid at his birthday party. At that moment, it felt like an Arashi concert. Sasuga Arashi! Maybe it's just me, but compared to the other perf I saw (Mika Nakashima, Yuzu, Koda Kumi), the camera shoots seemed to become more wild and excited along with Arashi, with a lot of wide zooms and sudden close ups.

But the thing I loved most was right before they started singing Believe. As Happiness ended, they went to the upper stage, where they were engulfed by thick smoke. At first, I was going to throw the remote control because it seemed like they were going off stage just like that. But no. After the smoke dissipated, they emerged again! This time, in line with Believe, they had changed into silver suits! And as the camera panned from above, I couldn't spot their red costumes. O.o I didn't even see any holes in the ground. They changed really fast, like within..3~4 secs! haha.. Concert-trained! But it was strange that they only sang one song after the costume change. =S

So, all in all they sang A.RA.SHI, Wish, Happiness and Believe in a medley.

As Nino said after the perf, it'll be great if they returned next year!

Oh, during the short talk, a male fan actually shouted out to them, and Nakai-san was like, other than female fans, Arashi has a lot of male fans too. True ne! That's our Arashi for you. They have the substance besides the face. =)

Nice brows

I haven't downloaded an Arashi perf in a long while, mainly because most downloads require me to join the community, which I dislike (me and my odd peeves). But I downloaded this one because it promised the most awkward moment in the history of Arashi, aka the translucent costumes debut. XP I really wonder what eventually happened to the fashion coordinator who worked on this project.

It was so fun watching both fresh-from-the-Junior-ranks-Arashi (my gosh...chibi JUN and his voice!! And awkward members) and now-10-years-old-Arashi (haha they looked embarrassed amused by how they looked/behaved/spoke back then). Well, history does come back to haunt you!

Aniwaes, I disgressed. My main purpose is to share this screencap from Music station 13 Nov 2009

I love his eyebrows!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol....Forgive me, Jun, but Sho's brows look really good!! Especially when he does that faint frown! This performance is like one of the better ones I've seen for My Girl...although I've only seen 2. XP But yeah, all 5 looked happy and good, Jun looks relaxed, Nino openly flirted with Ohno, and Aiba's just plain cute. Of course, Sho's brows. =)

OMG. I just watched it at 赤い好き's vox. The only thing that stuck to my mind was...

SAWADA SHIN WAS SINGING.

Jun's hair, his looks.........reminds me soooo much of Sawada Shin. I'm gonna die from that look!!! Just as I was about to cool down a little, he gives me a jab again!
