Inspired by a friend's true story, written for fun after watching Aiba's Fuyu no Nayami on HNA.

Title: When Aiba finally gets his wish...
Pairing: NA
Rating: PG
Genre: Humor
Summary: Aiba's greatest wish from young was to have a birthday party. Having heard tha in HNA, his members decide to grant his wish.
Note: Not beta-ed

"Room 3104... Turn right huh?" Aiba mumbled to himself as he slipped by waves of people rushing around in their preparations for the night's show.

It was a hectic day filled with rehearsals for various year end shows and Aiba had spent half the day in blissful ignorance until late lunch - which was only an hour long, by the way - with his mother reminded him that it was Christmas eve! For the uninformed, Christmas eve is synonymous with birthday for the boy. Others would have made elaborate plans to celebrate the day, but not for the boy who is used to friends favouring the commercialized festival over his private special day. Especially when the boy in concern is part of the best selling group, he himself had to put work over his personal wants.

A responsible man he was, Aiba arrived at the tv station fifteen minutes in advance, armed with his faithful groupmate's information regarding their dressing room number. "2104," read the mesage. He squeezed his way to the said room, pushed the door open and announced his arrival with a enthusiastic "Konaiba~"...before realising that he had stumbled into the wrong room, as he faced a group of momentarily stunned girls. His embarrassing intrusion only ended when a kind staff checked his list and informed a thoroughly confused Aiba that his room was 3104.

So off he went, zooming past rooms, in search of 3104.

By the time he made his way there, he was 10 minutes late. Bracing himself for the wrath of Matsujun, he put on his most regretful expression and messed up his hair for added effect. He stepped into the room and threw himself into a deep bow, apologising furiously. "Gomen, gomen, I went to the wrong room."

At this point, the lights went off and familiar voices sounded in the room. Shocked, Aiba looked up and a scene from his dreams played before his eyes.

A group of people, his fellow members inclusive, were standing at a table in the center of the room, their faces illuminated by the soft glow of 28 candles positioned around a giant birthday cake. Tears started to form in his eyes as a birthday song danced in the air. Before long, they escaped Aiba's defenses and joined the channels of sweat that traced the contours of his face.

"Happy birthday!" came an avalanche of birthday greetings when the tune ended.

Pulling the birthday boy, who was still in a state of shock, towards the group, Nino bragged, "Happy birthday! I baked this cake for you, so quickly blow the candles and try the cake!"

"Eh? Really? You baked it?" Aiba asked, wondering how the boy managed to find time for that.

Nino nodded and urged him to make his wish and split the cake.

Taking the order, Aiba mumbled an inaudible wish before blowing the flames off in one long breath. The room went dark for a spilt second before the lights came on again, thanks to Ohno, who was given the responsibility of support services.

"You know, Aiba-chan... What's amazing about this cake is not the cake itself," Nino explained earnestly.

"Eh??" Aiba eyed the cake, trying to digest Nino's words. In doing that, he missed catching a wink Nino sent to Jun, which proved to be the first of two factors that led to a major embarrassment later.

Continuing, Nino gave the poor man his answer. "The candles. The candles can be eaten!"

"They can be eaten?" came a sharp voice.

But it wasn't Aiba's. Instead, it belonged to Ohno, who had left his station by the light switches and joined the group at the table.

"They can be eaten," Nino answered impatiently, nudging Ohno stealthily at the side.

Crossing his arms, Aiba pulled himself back and asked to reaffirm what Nino just said, "Can they really be eaten?"

Swiftly, Jun interrupted, "Yup. I bought them from the honey store at Ginza."

Joining in the fun, Sho added on in his usual objective News Zero tone, "I see...Must be some new product. Beeswax? Well, Matsujun's always getting the latest and coolest stuff huh? It's amazing."

"Really? I've never heard of that..." Aiba continued to eye the candles with doubtful eyes, wondering if to trust Nino's honesty for once.

"Yeah. Do you want to try them out?" Nino proposed.

When Aiba didn't answer, Ohno pulled out a candle and brought it to his mouth before pausing mid-action. "Nah, Aiba's the birthday boy. I'll eat it after you! Seems really delicious though..."

Allowing his mood to follow that of his leader was the second factor that sealed his fate. His tension pumped up following the excitement expressed by Ohno, Aiba reached for a candle and threw it into his mouth... Which was when he realised that he had the world's most hateful members.

"Riida too!?" Aiba exclaimed, spitting out the bitten piece of wax onto a paper plate, given to him by a very considerate Jun.

Amidst the laughter ringing around the room, of which Nino's was most loudly heard, Ohno tried to restrain the smile that was threatening to break out on his face, saying, "Well, I wass told to support the party so I thought I should help get things moving..."

Note: Commissioned by [livejournal.com profile] aqua_candy under the Haiti earthquake relief efforts.
Summary: When you have a dork as your best friend...
A/N: I'm not a big YamaP fan, so the characterisation may be off, as it's based on my very surface-deep impression. The fanfic ended up more than thrice of the commissioned length, and may not score well in the humour department, but I hope you like it!

Fanfic inside! )
