Interpretation
There are sweetness and bitterness in the four seasons of life. Regardless of the conditions, if you face them with a positive attitude, and not let trival metters disturb you, you'll be able to appreciate the beauty of life
I just finished watching Tavia's first leading series, Sweetness In The Salt. It got warehoused by tvb and was only aired after Rosy Business won high ratings in HK. What's the link? Well, Rosey Business is 巾幗梟雄 and Sweetness In The Salt is 碧血鹽梟. Whatever the reason, I'm glad they aired it for it is such a great show!
I especially liked how it was different from the typical HK period dramas where they have a huge, wealthy family, who hates each other and tried to plot against each other for favour from the man in the house or for money and inheritance. Of course, in SITS, the members of the family all have their weakness. The Aunt is greedy and often steals from home/the shop to earn a quick buck. The Eldest Sister bears a grudge against her father and schemes with her lover to make her father lose face. The Third Brother is a good for nothing who does nothing but visit brothels and waste his time away. The Fourth Sister..well, don't want to talk about her. She's the only person I don't like in this show. But the thing is, at the end of the day, every one of them love the family. It's not the typical "we start off hating each other and only caring about ourselves but something happened and we grew to love each other". It's more of a "we've always loved each other but we still act according to what we want to so long as it doesn't hurt our family too much".
You know, I even liked the greatest villian in the show, because he is still human. In spite of all the bad things he did, he was still human. He looked upon the son of his beloved as his own and taught him everything he knew. It wasn't a plot to raise the kid up to be his pawn. It was to raise him up to assist him, in the wrongdoings
Plus the theme song is really nice, by Steven Ma and Tavia Yeung. Tavia did pretty well, I feel..and the song is really beautiful with fitting lyrics.
