I just discovered that a fellow colleague loves/d SMAP, so I'm currently on a SMAP high after watching some Youtube videos with her (I can never do that for Arashi anymore, ever since the great taken-down of the past few years T.T But another time for that)

So, I went to google around for SMAP videos, and found this old performance of Yozora no Mukou.

Just go listen to it. Although I had no impression of the song title when my friend brought it up "that 夜风 something something song", the moment it started playing, I knew I've heard it before. I may not remember from where, which drama (after googling, I realised it wasn't any OST to a drama), but I knew I had heard it before.

I had heard it before, a long time back.

Is it the tune, the beats, the way the song was written, or the way SMAP sang it?

Everything about it just felt nostalgic.

I quote the writer of the post at the above link:
"Some particular songs just take you back….and reinvigorate fond memories~* so vividly like where you were at times listening and just what your life was like back then and whom you were seeing and what you were doing daily….work..friends…playtime…life…everything~."

Does this song do the same to you? Remind you of a time long ago, when you rushed home to catch the latest episode of a SMAP/Jdrama on television, perhaps discussing it with a friend/a sibling after watching? Or humming to the song while replaying that newly bought CD on your discman? Maybe you've been scolded by mom for plastering your cupboard with stickers of your favourite pop idol?

I find SMAP a legend, because many of their songs continue to make an impact on me, many years on. They have grown beyond the top idol, the nation's 'son'. I was just browsing Youtube when I saw a random comment (highly rated) critising people for complaining about SMAP's (lack of) singing abilities. Somehow, Arashi appeared in the comment, and from the rest of the comment, the OP seemed to be saying that songs is more than singing abilities and selling power (the latter a reference to Arashi maybe?), which everyone seems to be focusing attention on right, such that we lose sight of what it is the important thing about songs. It's the connection of hearts.

That, I agree. But I need to add that Arashi's songs connect that. That is why I love them so very much (other than the fact that they are so darn gorgeous AND make me laugh).

This makes me remeber my KimuTaku fever. Around 2000.
Long Vacation was the start of it. The cute handsome pouty Sena-kun >_< is too adorable to be missed out every week.
Then, came Love Generation, together with legendary drama-couple Takakao Matsu.
After that, my tv station stopped bringing KimuTaku (but I got to watch plenty of good 1995-2000s dramas).
Still, I was n am already mesmerized by KimuTaku hehehehe. And then found SMAP. My impression, was like....HEeeee? He's also in a group/sing?
While I searched for SMAP, I couldn't find anything about the other members work, so my focus was just him :P .
