Full House, Thai version!

karenedWhen was it since my last post? I've taken to posting short snippets on twittwe and facebook many moons ago, and kinda abandoned my lj.... but this paticular subject deserves its own long post complete with caps, here I am again!

Nope, you didn't read me wrong. Nope, it's not a typo.
I can't believe it myself but I am actually watching a Thai drama (or lakorn as they call it in Thai).
At first sight you may think I'm watching it for this peice of eye candy, who suddenly appeared in my weibo feed a few weeks ago:
True, the moment I saw his picture, I gave him a stamp of approval. He is gorgeous! But no gorgeous guy would tempt me enough to start a Thai drama. English, Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean...I can understand these languages/dialect, and without the language barrier and need to follow subs, I could enjoy the drama properly. However, I knew nuts about Thai (other than having a college classmate called Natt - pronounced 'Nut'). So when I marathoned all 11 eps available with subs last weekend, I had to wait onstead of just switching over to the raw ep 12 as I would have for other dramas.
This is my first Thai drama!
This is my first drama in an entirely foreign tongue!
I had some time last weekend and with no nice drama to watch (while waiting for the next episode of ShitsuJun, You From Another Star, Emergency Couple to air), I surfed around and stumbled onto a link for Full House, Thai version.
Into the rabbit hole!
I won't deny it; one of the best things about the show is the male lead.
He's called Mike.
It may not ring any bell at first, but when I watched this particular scene in episode 2 where the female lead miscalled the male lead, playing a superstar in Thailand, something clicked.
He got miscalled "Golf".
Remember????
Golf and Mike and....Yamapi!!! Back then they formed a special unit called GYM.
They even appeared in Arashi's AAA DVD footage where our boys held their Thailand leg of the tour!

Next, the female lead!
Aom (also her character's name, just like for Mike), who is apparently very famous in Thailand and also China (yes, the Chinese watch dramas from everywhere!!!). She is gorgeous and just gives off a light, airy vibe, making her very easy to watch in spite of the naivety written into the character. I can't name a Korean or Japanese actress who is so naturally cute like her.
Together, the male and female leads make a visually pretty couple and their playful yet natural bickering lights up the screen further.
Good thing that it has almost been a decade since the original Korean Full House aired. I can't remember much about the drama's specific plots and scenes, so the Thai version, though called almost an exact frame-by-frame adaption, was fresh enough to surprise me with every scene.
For example, the famous 'bench' scene on honeymoon! I love the colour palette in this scene (and prolly almost every other scene).
Mike's like studying a creature from another star (pun intended)...which Aom's probably is. See below, so beautiful!
