This post is written very haphazardly based on my series of tweets while watching the final episode of Arashi ni Shiyagare last night. Once again posting here to keep a record.

For fans, (the hiatus) will be very lonely, but from now on, please do what each of you really want to do.

O visited J's house a while back with other friends, and the both of them started to talk about Arashi. O was drunk and they ended up crying while laughing. O doesn't remember anything apart from the strong drink J prepared for him though...and he stayed over!

The guest asked the question...Is Arashi going to return?

The question we don't dare to ask.

They have discussed about it, but nothing has been decided.

Which is half glass full I guess.

Nino doesn't remember what they chatted about in the bus...because they weren't really having any serious talk. I guess it's because it's a field trip? Who gets serious on field trips?!

J was in charge of lunch, and opted to grill the meat using far infrared rays but the heat didn't get through the meat. O & N wanted the meat well done, but couldn't ask for that in that situation, so O ended up eating some beans dish, whilst A was worrying about a stomachache as he ate!

J: This is lunch from me.

AS: That was awesome.

Really? They are so sweet to Jun!!!

In the 50m race, Sho came in first & Ohno last, so Ohno has to heap praises on Sho!

O: I've thought so since way back. You're so cool since back then. I really like your eyes..and also how you cut your nails diligently. It's worrying to see it grow. And, you're coolest right now!

Ohno's in-charge of dinner and the menu is fish! He wants to go on a fishing trip with Arashi!

The water's very choppy, and Nino gets seasick easily, so he decided to sit it out and cover for the rest from his end. He will buy the fish in case they don't fish anything.

You'd think Ohno will be annoyed for being doubted...

...But remember he's our Riida.

"That would be a great help!" he said.

And in the end, they really had to order food through Nino the Uber Eats.

N: The way they did it was totally like (I was) Uber Eats!

Aiba: 楽しい半面、寂しくもあった While it was fun, it was also lonely.

Aiba's words reflect what we have been feeling in the past month....

A: I was on the verge of tears as I looked at the sunset. We came on a vacation together because of the program. How many more times can we go to different places together as 5 in the future? Well, the 4 of us can match our schedules and go find Ohno-san.

S: Somehow I was engrossed in that time, seeing the beautiful Fuji mountain. If only Nino was there. I wanted Nino to be there.

Q: What were you doing while waiting?

N: I watched all of the Youtube videos. All the videos uploaded.

LOL All the emotion built-up and then...as expected of our Nino!

And does that mean he had time to read all our comments too?

S: We shared a room during the tour and because the towel was short, with the way he wrapped the towel, his lower body was showing.

During dinner, they ate without saying anything.

S: We really do that, during tours, we really don't say a word.

A: Isn't it like that for spouses who are long married?

M: The atmosphere doesn't feel bad even if we don't say a word. It's like "It's delicious", "Yea", that's it.

That's quite true ne? It's only with our closest friends that we are comfortable to remain in silence.

Nino being a fan, appealing to Ohno, getting disappointed when the appeal failed, and then being super excited when Ohno finally responded. And the final gesture....

I don't know why but it gets to me...

Higher-ups from J&A went for Arashi's concert in the past and asked what each of them wanted. But Arashi said that they don't need anything individually. Whenever it may be, they want a regular program belonging to the 5 of them.

N: Rather than physical things, we wanted work.

That must have been that dark period... T_T

On the topic of 24hr TV...

A: Will you watch 24hr TV on TV next year?

O: I probably will. If any of you 4 were to host it next year onwards, I may secretly drop by and after donating, drop you a text.

Why does it feel so sad to hear him refer to "the 4 of you"?

S: For me, it's our first appearance on 24hr TV in 2004. Aiba-kun wrote a letter right? "Our dream to become the top, we must make it come true". That became a significant point, a signpost for me. I'm not saying it's the same for everyone, but it was for me personally.

N: To be honest, I was in between speakers and I couldn't hear anything. I got to know about it afterwards, that he said that.

O: It was the same for me.

S: How did you feel when you got to know?

O: Like, "Oh he's thinking of that. I didn't know what it meant to be "top"...

O: Probably Aiba-chan didn't either, at that time. Us now..are at the top right?

(AMNOS laughs)

A: That was cool!

N: I get it, I get it.

M: That's getting too full of ourselves!

[I'm tickled by Ohno's hesitant pause. Ohchan you're allowed to be proud of where you guys stand now!]

O: I mean, I didn't think we could make it this far. But then I recall, it's probably because Aiba-chan said that back then, that something changed. Because he said that.

M: I think so too. We got to appear on the program and Aiba-kun revealed those thoughts of his. At that point, I thought, "The 5 of us should do more about it." When I look back, that became a marker.

O: I think he said it very well.

N: This person is so pure.

M: That's right. It wouldn't have resonated so well if I was the one saying it at that time. It was that Aiba-kun saying that, that it pierced us, resonated with our fans, and people started to be interested in us.

M: There are 50 days till hiatus. What are your thoughts?

A: To be honest, it didn't feel real. It was after Arafes on 3 Nov that I suddenly felt it. I suddenly felt lonely. "Eh? Are we really going to...do that..?" I felt the reality of it.

S: I get you.

A: When was it for you?

S: Probably today? It came intensely today. Seeing the 4 of you, the backview of the 4 of you. Nino?

N: Basically, I decided not to talk about it so I won't talk about it.

M: Talk about it! Let's all talk about it.

N: It's not that I won't talk about it; I can't talk about it.

O: For me, it still doesn't feel real. Of course, I do feel that it'll be soon. I just can't imagine it. I've been in Arashi for 20 years, and in J&A for 25 years. As Nino puts it, I'll probably feel it come next year.

S: Matsujun?

M: It depends on the day. There are moments where it'll come...so...

*Aiba starts coughing*

M: I'm speaking!

S: Your cough sounds too unique!

N: You're horrible!

S: We don't usually hear coughs like this.

O: You tried to hold it in so desperately.

A: Sorry, sorry, please continue.

M: I can't continue!

AS: I get what you mean by it depends on the day.

M: For me, 50 days is significant. It's like the countdown has really begun and we're starting to do the year end activities. It's gradually getting busy and physically exhausting.

M: But I don't want it to be me summarising what to do at the very end and asking for it to be done based on that. It's better for everyone to do it together. I think that should be the way. Including the step we'll take when next year comes.

*silence + blank faces*

S: Are you all sleeping?

N: Would you please, Riida?

A: I was falling asleep.

O: I felt happy spending the day as 5 of us, from morning till late.

M: It was fun.

*Jun turns to Aiba and shakes him*

M: It was fun right?

A: It was fun!

O: We did many things. The day just flew by. As Matsujun said, let's head for the remaining 50 days together.

M: Let's go!

Q: What was the scene which left deepest impression?

O: Overall speaking...everyone's so hasty! Although we were given break time, everyone's like "We don't need breaks, we don't need it! Next! Next!". Aiba-chan was super hasty!

Q: How was the past 21 years?

M: It was amazing. I didn't expect to spend the 21 years like this. If you told us this during our debut, we wouldn't have believed you.

N: I know that this will be the best 21 years of my entire life - that is how great it was.

A: It was a miracle. I'm grateful to have met these members. I wouldn't have continued on for 21 years if it wasn't with these members. Seeing many different sceneries with these members, experiencing things with them, it was a miracle. These are my riches.

O: I'm glad to be with these 4 persons. To reach this day without anyone missing is really a miracle. It is amazing that nothing has changed since our debut, inside us, being in showbiz. We've only changed for the better.

Yes, Riida definitely didn't change.
2004: You don't really do anything Leader-like.
2020: You don't do things that are Leader-like.

S: As you said, there may be a number of people worrying that Arashi will vanish suddenly in a few days' time, on new year's day. But we have been saying thank you to many people for almost 2 years, so that they wouldn't feel that way. We have been saying "thank you" continuously for almost 2 years, but this period was the first time we had so many people say thank you to us. We said "thank you" but received so many more "thank you" in return. I felt happiness during this period.

毎日どこかに、嵐がいた。 Arashi was there somewhere everyday.

たくさんのCMを一緒に作れて、 Creating many CMs together,

幸せでした。 It was happiness.

夢は、また嵐に会えること！ Our dream, is to meet Arashi again!

Final thoughts from Arashi

A: That we can continue this program for over 10 years is all thanks to our viewers for watching. Thank you. We've experienced various things and each one of them is my treasure. This was a program which I had fun shooting. Thank you all, including the staff, for allowing me to join this wonderful program. Thank you for watching. I will put all my heart into singing at the end.

N: It has been a long time - 10 years 9 months - thank you. Even further back, for the past 21 years, thank you to all staff who have helped us out and also to all our viewers. Since we announced our hiatus, there were many voices saying they'll feel lonely, that they still want to see us. It's great to be part of a group who receives such comments. I'm really happy that I'm part of such a group supported by people who would feel lonely and continue to ask things of us, instead of just saying "You've worked hard, it was great, it was great!" I will continue to work hard going forward!

M: The past 10 years and 9 months on the program brought out a new side of us. Thank you. Since 2001, we have had many TV programs with NTV and had been supported by many staff. We are here today thanks to their support. Thank you once again. And also, to our viewers who have supported us over the years, thank you.

O: Looking back at the old VTRs today, I once again realise that we've been given many different experiences. We even just did camping at the end. It's all thanks to our staff and our viewers. Thank you for everything till the end.

S: Arashi's first TV program was with NTV. Mayonaka no Arashi, C no Arashi!, D no Arashi!, G no Arashi!, Arashi no Shukudai-kun, and Arashi ni Shiyagare. We were raised up by these programs and many of the staff. To all our viewers, everyone we've met on location, and everyone we have worked with, thank you. Lastly, we will close with a song. The tears in Aiba's eyes.

The tears in Nino's eyes, the tremble in his voice.

The tears in Jun's eyes.

The tears in Ohno's eyes.

The tears in my eyes.

This is really their roots..traced all the way back to Mayonaka no Arashi. I remember that watching them cycle around in the dark; it was a really low budget program (but thoroughly enjoyable). To be honest, I never embraced AniShi the way I did with VS Arashi. For the longest time, I was bitter that it replaced ANS, which I loved. As AniShi found its footing, I warmed up to it, but I still prefer VS Arashi and HNA over it. But now, I'm really sad to say goodbye to it.

NTV, thank you for being with Arashi since the start, for giving them a chance , for giving the confidence when they most needed it.
