I just finished my Mei Ren Xin Ji marathon! It sucks when I have work in between (haha now it sounds like tv is full-time and work is only part-time). But I managed to watch bits and pieces, and got it completed!

Personally, I think it'd be better if Yu Zheng wasn't so ambitious in attempting to fit the entire life of Empress Dou in the series. In my opinion, he ought to have stopped where Sheng'er died, or just around there. Instead, he moved on to depict Liu Qi becoming Emperor, starting another round of inner palace scheming, but this time without anyone worthed rooting for. Even Empress Dou wasn't featured as prominently as the wise one, so I was quite annoyed at the screen full of stupid and/or ungrateful and/or wicked people.

And towards the end he just had to make everyone die a sad death.

Grand Empress Dowager Bo had to die just because she got a bit hysterical and barged into the contaminated palace ground. And it was only a while before she died that she reconciled with her daughter-in-law.
Prince Liu Wu had to die just because his stupid half-sister (gosh, how can this woman be Empress Dou's daughter!!?) plotted to have her daughter be Crown Princess. And he was the only child truly filial to Empress Dou throughout the years!
Fake brother Dou Chang Jun had to just protecting Empress Dou, just to show his love to the audience!? I'd rather he become her bossom soulmate in her final years! Their/His love was such a moving one, that transcends the cultural male dominance of that time. I so love this emperor, right from the start! And he had to die like that. Such a selfless person, to die like that.
Prince Liu Qi/Emperor Jing died because of his stupid sister, while once again being misunderstood by his mother. A regret for both him and his mother!

And what's most annoying is that three out of four died because of a scheming concubine. ARGH.

Seriously, it should have stopped when all was good!!!

I hope Mei Ren Tian Xia will be good. But without Ruby to helm the drama, I'm not sure if the show will be as engaging. We'll see soon, I guess.
