[TRANS] Sponichi article 30 June 2019

This is an old article from 2019, based on Arashi's appearance at the NHK program "SONGS". Was just thinking about Sho's "We were once juniors too" comment in Arafes when he introduced the juniors and I couldn't shake off this thought:
They've been through periods of anxiety and uncertainty, low points in their career. That's why they are humble towards all, even the 'less known/established' artistes (such as the incident recounted here: https://twitter.com/uchiwafangirl/status/1319847077631856640?s=20…)
Brief translation of key points of the article:
- Arashi had a luxurious debut in Hawaii in 1999. But their popularity didn't increase per expectations and dark days continued.
- Jun: Many groups debuted from JE in that period. Although it wasn't a given that all our CD releases will chart at 1st place, we did aimed to chart 1st place when we made releases. However, we weren't able to achieve that.
- Aiba: When we held concerts, the seats at the top tier had to be covered with cloth so that it feels as if there were no seats there to begin with instead of seeing untaken seats. (T/N: in those days cons were held at smaller venues. For example, the Yokohama Arena has seating capacity of 17K)
- Sho: Personally speaking, during my third year at college everyone around me were donning suits and job hunting. I felt uneasy, wondering what the future held for me.

Translation of Nino's aisatsu here.
Nino always serving up reality with humour. よく頑張ったよ、愛しきおじさんたち!
"2020/12/31 23:59:59. Till this very moment, I want to create great memories with everyone till the very last second. I've always wanted that.
Precisely because of that, in order to make it happen, to make it a reality we have to continue to put in our best. These ojiisans have to put in our best.
Seeing how these 4 persons enjoy themselves, I feel that it's a really fun and wonderful concert. When I look at these 4 persons, I'm really glad that Arashi's made up of these 4 persons. Ah, 5 persons. Well, I can't be looking at myself. I have to do this to see myself. That's why in my eyes, Arashi is 4 persons. But if you include me, I'm glad we are these 5 persons.
I'm glad that we managed 20 years with the 5 of us. I feel this once again. It has to be the five of us. It has to be the five of us. I want to say this, but before that...to everyone who is here, it's great to have you all as Arashi's fans. You're my pride!"
Also: Sho's interview on what Arashi planned for 31 Dec 2020. <3

Translation of Sho's OTONOHA update on 15 Nov 2020
Hello.
It's me.
Once again, 3 Nov, the anniversary of Arashi's CD debut.
Thank you for the many congratulatory wishes.
Did you enjoy "Arashi's Day"?
Personally speaking,
"Aiba's Sugoroku"
was the best.
We've been searching for a good timing to do this, and now it's finally realised!
For the first time in 15 years, it has been revived, with the help of staff from that time.
The "Gorgeous Celeb" was awesome...(Laughs)
Once again, thank you for watching "Arafes 2020".
"Spending time watching Arashi's concert at the same timing with everyone" - This was my first time doing this so it's a valuable and refreshing experience.
It was very enjoyable reading reactions [T/N: to the concert] through each of the comments on SNS.
I had an interview with Casa BRUTUS the other day and the thought came to me again...
We welcomed the early morning of 3 Nov 1999 at the Yoyogi Daiichi Stadium.
(Thanks once again to those who came that day)
In 2020, we stood at the Kokuritsu Stadium.
I feel this unbelievable connection once again and am deeply moved.
Now.
Next up is New Year's Eve.
"This is 嵐 LIVE 2020.12.31"
How will we be welcoming this day? I've been thinking about this since 2 years ago.
The 5 of us gather yesterday (14 Nov)...
I've been listening to various songs while looking carefully at the lyric cards.

[TRANS] Arashi's last concert 25 Nov 2020

This is a difficult article to translate, and I hope it is all rumour only, despite making business sense.
[T/N: Subsequent to this, on 26 Nov, Jun announced on Spotify live that the concert will be available worldwide!!! Nonetheless I'll keep this translation just for record.]
----------------------
Is Arashi's last concert limited to FC-members? Johnny's see a large spike in sales from "rush FC joiners"!
Nearing hiatus, Arashi's FC number is rapidly increasing!? Arashi, who is going on hiatus in about a month's time, will be holding a live concert online in New Year's Eve. As it is held online, there will not be a fight for the tickets.
However, it is heading towards the direction of necessitating FC membership to buy tickets. With the added perspective of "I want to see through to the end", the new FC joiners are increasing explosively to the very end. This can be said to be a rare occurrence.
Arashi's last appearance before hiatus was supposed to be on NHK's Kouhaku, but fans were exhilarated when they were surprised with plans for a live concert. Unlike the prerecorded streaming of Arafes 2020 on 3 Nov, this will be broadcasted live.
Although the performance venue is not publicly announced, we can expect that fans who managed to find out will rush to the venue.

Me from 2014 (when I last posted on my LJ) would never, ever have believed that all these is happening in 2020.
Never.
Only those who have been through the old days would fully understand how much this means to fans.
My heart is so filled with gratitude towards Arashi.
And they even picked English questions on purpose, just to make us fill included. I love them.
